Joe Pay is an experienced Strategist and Trader with over 20 years of experience in the Wealth Management Industry, currently serving as Senior Vice President and Director of Investments with Carnegie Private Wealth in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Joe manages the client portfolios at Carnegie, and draws on his experience in the days working for High Net Worth Clientele on Wachovia’s Preferred Client Services Active Trading Desk. Communication with clients is vital and he enjoys the privilege of sharing current market conditions in the Market Minute which combines his love of markets and trading.
Early on he grew up around and comfortable with the financial services industry, as his father owned an Insurance Practice in California where he lived. After working in the family business when he was young, Joe initially diverted his attention to Exercise and Sports Science earning a Degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. However, after working in hospitality for 5 years through his college years, the roots took hold once more and he became a Financial Advisor with Ameriprise Financial Services back in 2004.
Southern California is the land of the Dodgers and Joe’s rearing was no exception. Growing up going to games and developing a love for the sport is something he enjoys to this day. Not only is the strategy and personalities of the game appealing to him, but more so the statistics. This enjoyment of the data and the detail coupled with his interpersonal skills honed from his early years in the hospitality industry, are a part of the unique mix that drives his love for his role at Carnegie. Joe thoroughly enjoys the day to day that comes with portfolio management and the way he can positively enhance the lives of his clients.
He earned his FINRA Series 7 and 66 with Ameriprise and quickly became a General Securities Sales Supervisor with his second firm, Wachovia Securities, obtaining his Options Module Series 9 and General Module Series 10.
In his spare time, Joe loves to snowboard, hike, mountain bike, and get in the outdoors. He and his wife of 25+ years, Sarah, have 3 teenage boys Bradley, Bennett, and Dexter, along with 2 pugs, Sushi and Sumo.
